Byrnes Emerges Victorious In 133rd Assembly Bid

Caledonia, NY—Assembly Candidate Marjorie Byrnes (R-C, Caledonia) has declared victory over her Democratic opponent, Barbara Baer, in the race for the 133rd State Assembly District. While addressing friends and supporters at tonight’s celebration, Assemblywoman-elect Marjorie Byrnes offered these remarks:

“Barbara Baer entered this race to offer the voters a choice. She and I have divergent views on issues like single-payer healthcare, school safety and the Second Amendment, but Barbara is to be commended for having run a clean, issues-based campaign. Those who did not agree with my priorities, had a viable option in Barbara Baer. I thank her for providing the people of this district with dialogue and debate as they made their decision.”

“Today, the voters of this district agreed that New York’s taxation is burdensome and its regulation excessive. They saw the emphasis that my campaign placed on the need for increased attention to infrastructure funding. Those closest to local government saw a need to offer mandate relief to municipalities. The people of the 133rd Assembly District have had enough of the corruption pouring out of our State Capitol. They want term limits for elected officials.”

“Almost a year ago, I began this race believing that the 133rd Assembly District didn’t have a voice in the lower house. I gave you my word. I told you I would fight for our values and our region. Tonight, I can tell you that whether you are a college student, parent, small business owner or family farmer, your voice will be heard in Albany’s legislative halls again.”

“This race did not come easy and it did not come without the support of so many friends across this diverse district. People from Pittsford to Prattsburgh, have placed a trust in me. Whether you live in Monroe, Livingston or Steuben County, I want you to know that I am committed to frequenting your towns and villages. To represent this district, I need to be in all of it and I need to hear from the people who call these places home. Together, our voices can get the attention of Albany and bring the change our state so desperately needs. Tonight, we celebrate. Tomorrow, we get to work. Thank you for your amazing support.”
